Chapter 2: Habits, maturity and effectiveness

"Sow a thought, reap and action. Sow an action, reap a habit. Sow a habit, reap a character. Sow a character, reap a destiny."

Our habits can be defined as the intersection of knowledge, skill and desire. The three of these things must exist within us for a habit to be formed, be it good or bad. Knowledge is the awareness of the habit. Skill is the ability to carry out the habit, and desire is the motivation to carry out the habit. To create, change or destroy a habit, one has to focus on all three aspects of the habit.

The maturity continuum(something unrelated) tracks the stages of a persons maturity through life. It comprises 3 stages: Dependence, independence and interdependence. Simply put, dependence describes a stage when one depends on another for survival, independence describes relying on ones own self, and interdependence describes people working together to achieve a common goal, which is the pinnacle of maturity. Such goals can be physical, emotional or psychological.

Effectiveness can be looked at in a simple organisation of two bodies: the asset and the product. The asset produces the product. In order to maintain and perfect the effectiveness of this organisation, both have to maintained in harmony, where the asset (physical, financial or human) is constantly repaired and improved, while the product is also focused and shared.

The 7 habits are sorted into these stages: 1,2,3 for self mastery, private victories. 4,5,6 for public victories of teamwork and cooperation, and lastly 7 for renewal of self and continuous improvement.
I hope people are reading this. Can someone post a comment or something.
